Vermiculite
Vermiculite is a hydrated phlogopite mica belonging to the group of clay minerals.
Due to the crystal water embedded in its layered structure, it can rapidly expand its volume by 13 to 17 times when exposed to sudden heat—similar to perlite.
Vermiculites are used in a wide range of applications, including insulation, lightweight concrete, refractory materials, and packaging.
